WNYT News Channel 13 Studio

WNYT is an NBC affiliated television station in Albany, NY which serves New York’s Capital District area and parts of Massachusetts. The station is housed in studio space at the WNYT Broadcast Center and broadcasts more than six hours of live content daily. This renovation provides a modern new home for the same trusted team of experienced journalists, anchors, and meteorologists- presenting their viewers up-to-date coverage of news, sports, and weather they can count on.

Working alongside WNYT Director of Operations Steve Robbins, Set Designer/Fabricator, Erector Sets, Inc of Philadelphia, PA, and Barbizon Lighting- Charcoalblue provided lighting direction for the client’s first major set renovation in almost 20 years. The chief goals of this design were to provide an attractive, versatile lighting design emphasizing the on-air talent and local ties represented in the updated set design, featuring an anchor desk with day/night backdrop, two distinct interview sets, weather desk and Chromakey area in this multi-camera broadcast.

Over the course of the renovation, Charcoalblue replaced their decades-old tungsten lighting fixtures with modern LED broadcast lighting fixtures by Desisti Lighting and Coemar Lighting. Additional state-of-the-art fixtures, lighting console, and relay control system, by ETC were also installed. The new LED lighting represents a leap forward in lighting technology which will reduce energy consumption, HVAC costs, labor and maintenance costs over the life of the design. The studio can be seen live, on-air, daily and is one of the top-rated newscasts in the Albany area.
