ROUNDABOUT THEATRE, PAINES PLOUGH
The Paines Plough Roundabout theatre is a temporary touring venue seating 140 people in a striking intimate circular enclosure. The first prototype was designed and built by the company themselves, and the second was developed with Charcoalblue to ensure it could be toured successfully and erected in a single day by a small crew.
The innovative theatre structure, complete with a self-supporting LED lightbox ceiling is able to fit within an existing room - a theatre, village hall or community centre anywhere with a 10 x 10m footprint and 5m clear height. This was an inspired project, driven from the outset by Lucy Osborne and Emma Chapman, with Howard Eaton, Paines Plough, Factory Settings and Charcoalblue all in collaboration.
The project was awarded The Stage Awards 2015 joint first prize for Best New Theatre.
