Establishing a new home for Scotland's premier theatre company

National Theatre of Scotland Headquarters

Project summary

Designed by RIBA award winning architects Hoskins Architects, Rockvilla is the National Theatre of Scotland's new centre for creativity, production and talent development. It provides the Company with approximately 3700 sq. metres of space, enabling them, for the first time, to house all its rehearsal and production activity under one roof.

The canal-side building features three rehearsal rooms, creative development spaces and a learning and community suite. In addition there is a working wardrobe facility, production workshop and technical store, office space, meeting room facilities and social areas. Representing the NTS team, Charcoalblue worked alongside the contractor's team to ensure the building met with NTS's expectations, monitoring onsite progress and delivery programme.

As Project Coordinators Charcoalblue managed the Client Direct packages and the phased physical relocation of NTS staff and equipment from three existing locations. Once relocated, Charcoalblue managed the snagging period and lead a programme of building systems optimisation to assist NTS in meeting predicted efficiencies.
